Ford Recalls 1995-1997 Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer Vehicles for Sway Bar Link Issue

Ford has recalled certain 1995-1997 Explorer and 1997 Mercury Mountaineer vehicles because the sway bar links could fracture. If one or both sway bar links fracture, vehicle stability is affected, which can cause handling issues. Dealers will replace both sway bar links with revised parts.

Summary: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, A FRONT SWAY BAR LINK CAN FRACTURE.
Consequence: VEHICLE HANDLING COULD BE AFFECTED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS.
