If the vehicle is under warranty, cylinder head replacement is recommended. If the vehicle is out of warranty, Ford authorized the use of a specific thread insert to repair the head.
Intermittent rough idle may be caused by the EGR sensor sticking, causing the EGR valve to stay slightly open. Our technicians tell us the valve and sensor must be replaced together to correct this concern.
The PCV hose may crack, causing the vehicle to idle roughly, this may or may not illuminate the Check Engine Light.
While driving for about 30 min, my engine began to knock loudly and began to experience and very rough idle. It is very hasitant to drive and comes really close to cutting off when I come to a complete stop. I check the engine oil and it is good. However, I did put about a quarter tank of 87 unleaded gas in there this morning from a low-priced gas station so maybe that has something to do with it.
