A Shaft In The Powertrain May Break While Driving
RepairPal Expert Overview:
On some front wheel drive hybrid vehicles, the intermediate shaft may not have been heat treated properly and may fracture. If this happens, the transmission will be unable to transmit power to the wheels and hold the vehicle when shifted into park, which could result in a crash. Dealers will inspect the drivetrain intermediate shaft and replace it if necessary. The recall began October 23, 2006. The Ford recall number is 06S44.
