A leaking axle shaft seal and / or PTU cover seal can cause transmission (red) or Power Transfer Unit (PTU) (brown) fluid leaks at the axle area. The axle shaft seal and / or PTU cover seal may be leaking and should be replaced as required.

Adhesive for foam blocks in the headliner can fail leading to poor fitment of the headliner and a possible rattle around the sunroof area. The foam blocks attach the headliner to the mounting brackets. Access the headliner and re-secure the foam blocks to the brackets using cable ties / zip ties.

Ford knows about this problem that started with the 2007 vehicles. (Edge, Mariner, Escape, Escape Hybrid, among others). See their problem report TSB 09-21-6. The real problem is that it is not a recall and it is a major nuisance and health hazard. If you turn your fans on all the way you are covered by a cloud of white dust. The repair is extremely labor intensive, to be done by an expert, and costly! I'm waitin for a class action lawsu...

The "Sync" wireless phone system may randomly loose "pairing" with the phone in use. This concern has been addressed with a software update which should be available from any Ford dealership service center at no charge.
