Question: Fluid in expansion tank runs low

The fluid in my coolant expansion tank runs low frequently with no visible fluid leak(got to notice recently). Now I dont have coolant in it just water cos my mechanic(saw him yesterday) wants to see if that will happen again(It seems it is still happening). Could d fluid run low from a lack of coolant when weather condition is dry or could a full expansion tank could be emptied in about 10 miles from an internal leak.

    A full tank that empties in such a short distance does raise serious concerns. Are you ensuring that any air pockets are elimianted in your cooling system first? And you have run a pressure test to verify no external leaks?

    If you were consuming that much water into your engine's crankcase, you would figure to have some kind of obvious driving impediment, rough running, etc. Hard to say...
