fix or bypass GM passkey 2 VATS on 2000 Buick Century

My security light on dash is on and, the car will not do anything. Dash, windows and all interior lights work so it's not the battery.

check to see if you have 12 volts at the starter( a single ) purple wire while you are trying to crank it, if you do not have power on that wire then most likely a bad starter, if it doesnt have power then you have another issue. does your key have a black chip in the ignition key itself????

yes it does have a resistor on the key shank. The security light is on so I know it is the GM VATS. It is a 2000 Buick Century custom.

My 2003 Buick Century is doing the same thing. All the lights, radio, power seats/locks/windows and all worked fine. Car wouldn't crank, just a slow click and security light is on. At first I did this it fixed the problem but a few months later the problem came back and this time just jiggling the wires didn't help. Was told it would be $1100.00 to replace the VATS security system in the car. I ordered a security bypass from ($180 + tax) Should get here in a few days and I'll let you know if it fixes the problem. Has a money back guarantee so we'll give it a shot. If it works I figure I just saved myself over a grand. :)
