I have been taking our cars to five Star for over 6 years now and have always found them friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy in servicing our cars. I have observed many owners of antique cars have had their cars serviced at five star also. Having more than one family member in my own family that owns antique cars, I also know most owners of these vehicles like to do their own work. That speaks volumes for Five Star when an owner of a antique car allows the Five Star Team to work on their cars. It's one of the reasons I also trust Five Star....
I TRUST THIS SHOP WITH MY COMPANY FLEET. THERE DIAGNOSIS SKILLS ARE THE BEST AROUND. THEY DO THE JOB RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP. MY WIFE ALSO BRINGS HER MINI-VAN IN FOR SERVICE. WE BOTH TRAVEL MANY MILES TO WORK AND WE TRUST THIS SHOP TO KEEP OUR VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. THANKS, FIVE STAR
Five Star gets one star. They estimated that the relacement of two front coil springs on a '99 Malibu would be $700. We found the exact parts online at $97.99 for a pair, so called around and found a shop that estimated the repair at $429 (turned out to be a $403 total charge).
When we came to get the car, Rich the manager would not allow AAA to tow the car away, stating that he didn't have to allow them on "his property." He held the car hostage until we agreed to pay a half-hour's labor ($42.50) for the "estimate." (This "estimate" mostly consisted of looking into the wheel well to see that one of the coil springs had broken). He also threatened that he could have tacked on a "storage fee" of $35/day because he held the car over the Memorial Day weekend, when the shop was closed.
Neither the "estimate" fee or the "storage fee" were discussed or disclosed to us at any time, nor does he have a rate sheet defining these rates, nor does he post any warnings about these rates at any public place in the shop. Rich explicitly told us that we were being charged this fee because we declined his services. Rich is all smiles when you bring your car in, but as soon as we expressed our intention to take the car elsewhere, he was a totally different person: curt, beligerent, and only worried about his bottom line.
To summarize: Five Star is overpriced and will hold your car hostage if you don't like their prices. Please, shop around - other shops have saved us many hundreds of dollars!
My Jeep Liberty kept pulling to the right, even after returning to the dealership twice for the problem. A tire shop manager told my husband about FiveStar. Rich and his mechanics were super, explaining each thing they were doing. In less than half an hour they found the problem and corrected it in less than another hour. I feel their charges were fair and their abilities superior. I have given their name to several friends since my first experience with the FiveStar.
