Filling my gas tank on 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada

when filling my gas tank I can only fill up to half of a gallon then it overflows and takes forever to go down, sometimes it doesnt move for more than 2 minutes.. any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance...

The evaporative emission control system ( a pollution control device that recycles gasoline vapors) may have a problem not allowing your fuel tank to vent when you are filling it with gas. Try another brand of gas I had problems with one brand of gas being a little more temperamental to fill than others. Another possibility is that the fuel fill hose to the tank is restricted or damaged.

Having the same exact problem, with a 2000 Bravada. I think that maybe it was overfilled in the past and has messed up the vent system somehow, but not sure what part/s I need to repair it yet. Good luck.
