just got rebuilt alternator installed, notice on charging gauge on dash, constantly charging, but when i turn on heater, lights, turn signals, etc the needle jumps back to discharge briefly, or if i slow down engine rapidly, it also jumps back to discharge until engine is reved up. is alternator faulty? or possibly distribution problem?

PARTS GUY December 22, 2011, 19:34ReplyMasterLet me guess, a advance or autozone alternator. Try another alternator. This time by a new one not rebuilt. I'm sure the one you purchased is lifetime warranty but how many times do you want to replace it in your lifetime.

Masterit may also be one with a pulley that is to big not allowing the alternator to charge at low engine speed. i would let a shop check it for you to verify.
