A defective mass air flow sensor can cause hesitation on acceleration, a lack of power or other drivability problems, all of which are usually accompanied by Check Engine Light illumination.

    maf was replaced and I still had issues. Needed to replace spark plugs and there was a clogged vacumb hose in the back driver side of the intake manifold. It went all the way accross the engine to some sensor on the passanger side strut tower.
