1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E Question: expansion valve

Since the A/C isn't working,I'm changing to the new freon. Replaced condenser(leaking) receiver/dryer and heater valve. Started smelling anti-freeze in cabin so I will be changing out the heater core. My question is: how much trouble is it to change the expansion valve?

    Hey man...I changed over to the new freon about 5 years ago. I bought the complete change-over kit (Intermatic, I think) at the auto parts store. I did not change out any ac parts, even though I had a leak somewhere. I just used the stop leak brand that goes with the change over kit. I'm really happy with it.
