Question: Exhaust pipe/muffler

There is a part that is about 6" long that goes around the exhaust pipe that looks rusted and has come loose. We noticed, because it rattles loudly when not in park.
Would we need to replace the whole muffler and does anyone know what this would usually run?

    You don't have to replace the whole muffler, unless it is rusted out. Go to a good exhaust shop and have them bend and weld in a piece of exhaust pipe.
