Exhaust Flange Gasket and Exhaust spring problems on 1995 Chevrolet Lumina

Will bad Exhaust Flange Gasket and/or Exhaust spring connecting the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe, cause a clunking noise when accelerating from a stop? Thank you for your reply!

The engine & transmission mounts both are fine. The clunking noise only happens when accelerating from stop, none on reversing backing up shift. I recently had a job done, perhaps the exhaust flange gasket is damaged or missing, it has never been replaced, though. Will this cause extensive damage, if left for awhile. Thanks.
