Once or twice a week the regal just accelerates on its own. It actually pegs the tachometer every time. You must turn off the car and restart it. We have had the dealership change the computer and they still can find the problem. This problem does not come up as an error code when they try to find it, and when they drive it, it does not happen. Has anyone had this happen? Any potential fixes would help.

The first thing I would recommend is to disconnect the cruise control cable if your 1992 Buick Regal is so equipped. The engine control computer really does not have the capability to raise the engine rpm enough to peg the tachometer. Try driving for few days with the cruise control cable disconnected from the throttle valve and safely stored out of the way.
