Question: Every now and then when I go into first gear, the shifter pops out into neutral?

This happens mostly when I'm at a red light and go into 1st gear. I have 81k on the car.

Is this a clutch or transmission problem? Some internet bloggers say it's the bushings in the tranny, and some say it's the fork? All the other gears are fine.

    it could be 1st gear syncro going out

    it seems like this has been happening for several years now, but much more frequent the last year or so. Maybe I'm just getting older and not shifting as good as my younger athletic self...lol.

    If this has been going on for at least 3 years, and the other gears are fine, could this be the bushings in the clutch?
