This family owned shop has shown has been around since 1962, with owner Alan Doherty being in charge for the last 38 years. He has assembled a very experienced team of technicians, with over 70 years combined! One thing all that experience has taught them is the importance of ongoing training. Which they all attend regularly to keep up with ever changing automotive technology. They have certainly seen a lot of changes since this business first opened 50 years ago. Serving the Greater Boston area since 1962, Everett Transmission specializes in repairing and rebuilding automatic and standard transmissions for both foreign and domestic cars and trucks.

would not recommend to my worst enemy !!!!HAD my 97 sho tow to shop Joshua said we can check it out and let me know what is wrong. Then we can decide witch way to go from there OK .when i got there i met AL & tried to tell him what is going on with my car well i have r&r this trans on this car 4 times already just did think it needed to come out any more. AL din't want to listen to me so i left my car there any how. I live less than ten miles away so i would go by and check to see if car had moved. it did not my car sat in the same spot for 5 weeks!!! When they did tell me something on the 6th week after me going by and calling they never told me what was WRONG WITH MY TRANSMISSION they told me 3100 DOLLARS AND THEY COULD PUT ME IN A REBUILD UNITED??? WITH 3 YEAR/UNLIMITED MILES WARRANT witch was 2400 that i found online for 1600.i though they was going to check my car and they charged me 94 dollars to put in a battery and start my car. I GUESS i have to do it my self DO NOT GO TO OR DO ANY BUSINESS WITH EVERETT TRANSMISSION!!!! NOT A FAR SHAKE FOR ME????

At Everett transmission we always recommend bringing in the vehicle to properly evaluate the repairs needed.Whenever a customer has had his transmission out 3 to 4 times at some Other repair shop we have found in our 41 years experience that it just doesn't make sense to attempt to make partial repairs or overhaul that same problematic transmission.There are many suppliers of Re manufactured transmissions and they all vary in price No differently than tires, brakes,parts etc.Unfortunately bad timing for failure of the Sho's transmission during the height of what was an epic winter for snow and transmission failures.18 year old vehicles quite often have many factors which alter decisions on whether to repair or not and this is always the choice of our valued customers.

Prior to taking my car to this shop I contacted them and told them that my transmission was slipping and I needed an estimate for work needed. I was told to bring the car in and it would get looked at. After a week, I did not hear anything from them so I contacted them and he stated the car was not yet looked at. Ok, no big deal I did not need the car. I took my car to this shop based on reviews I had read and that transmission work was done cheap. I also liked the idea that they gave you an estimate prior to working on it. 2 days later received a phone call from Al in the office giving me a diagnosis of what could be wrong and told me I would get a call within a day or two. A week went by and I had to call them again. Once again he spent 5 minutes explaining the diagnosis done and that he needed to do some other testing to figure out what the problem was. I still did not know an estimate of what the cost would be.. Two days later I was told the car needed a part. I had two choices. New from the dealer $1200 or he found a salvaged part from a nearby place $350. I decided the used part. Two days later I get a call stating the car is all set for pick up. When the process was all said and done my car spent a total of 21 days in the shop and the total bill was over $1200. Yes the car was fixed but overall I was not happy. Afterwards I did some research for the part Today I found it in several places for $100. As far as the diagnosis he did a good job but was it a way to keep the bill high? You decide if you are going there. I know I will not bring my auto there again. This is an honest review.

I have taken several vehicles to Everett Transmission over the past 9-10 years with the most recent being a 2000 Ford 6.8L F-350 pickup. I initially thought the truck had a weak transmission, needing a transmission overhaul, but was promptly told by the owner Alan Doherty that the transmission was fine and that it was not an issue. Some minor repairs were then done that took care of the problem. The truck also received synthetic fluid changes and a synthetic transmission flush.
The only thing you have to understand with this shop is that they are usually extremely busy. Whenever you can it would be best for you to plan in advance and ask questions. They are very helpful and accommodating.
What I appreciate most about this shop is that the owner has 35 years plus experience as a mechanic and still works, along with having experienced people with him. He has also the willingness and patience to explain problems and repairs using language and terms you can understand. As a customer it goes a long way to get a job done and walk away feeling good about it.
I am comfortable recommending the shop to anyone in need of work to their vehicle.

I cannot rave about these gentlemen enough!! They not only were able to provide a rough diagnostic with estimated repair cost over the phone, but also remained in communication during the repair. They saved me $400+ in total costs, provided peace of mind as they gained my complete trust! FYI - I had my car towed from Hull to Everett because of the recommendations, online ratings and phone conversations!

I went to mutiple shops to get estimates and find out what would be best for me. The owner of this shop told me a price for a complete rebuild of my transmission including " the clutch converter, other shops will give you a price then tell you after the work is done they cant warranty with out the cc being replaced and I wont do that." needless to say I got the run around on that. I was told if he only had to replace the soft parts I would pay x, hard parts as well x + 200 and after a phone call stating only soft parts needed replacement I gave the greenlight to do the work. now a week had past and i get a call from one of the employees telling me i can come and get my car, the balance owed is x+500.... I flipped out. the boss wasnt around that day but did get back to me. then after arguing a bit over price, and the agreement we ended meeting in the middle. His employee did give me a line about how the cc needed to be replaced. and then the boss gave some line about how his employee spent extra time cleaning the hard parts. i dont understand how cleaning something costs the same as buying a new one, so watch out for that hidden gem. also get your estimate in writing, very detailed writing. the shop does great work but is not above making a quick buck.

I recently took my car to this shop because I was having touble with what I believed to be the transmission. I dropped my car off and the very next afternoon I got a phone call from Al in the office giving me a diagnosis of what was wrong. I had repair my entire transmission. They gave me a rough estimate of the cost and the following day I got the exact cost. When the process was all said and done my car spent a total of four days in the shop and now it runs great. I would recommend this shop to anybody having car troubles.
