2000 Chevrolet Tahoe

Question: Evaporated Emissions Sysstem

Question

Visitor, 5.3L V8, Murfreesboro, TN, March 15, 2011, 16:48

We have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe with about 156,000 miles. Our service engine soon light has come on and when the code was pulled it had said it was the evaporated emissions system. I was told it could either be the gas cap, which has been replaced, the vacuum hoses or the vent solenoid on top of the gas tank. Has anybody else had this problem or know what it would most likely be?

evap issues are hard to track down. you need a scan tool, smoke machine and a voltmeter to find the issues. you are better off letting a shop do this check for you.
gas cap is a common failure but not always.
