Is it possible for me to replace the evap canister filter or do I need to have a professional mechanic do it? Also, where is it located on my 2007 Kia Spectra? Thanks!

Fixing anything on the EVAP system affects the emissions control system, and these things are extremely complicated and sensitive, so it is most likely best to have a professional technician handle this job.
Are you over your mileage limit for your warranty? You car is so new, it seems like you should have this covered under your manufacturer's warranty. Sometimes the emissions warranty is more generous than your bumper-to-bumper. Worth checking out.

I also have a 2007 KIA optima with the same issue.. Service engine light comes on then gose off.. Took to KIA have a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty they say part cost $16.50 where is it located.. Labor to replace is $57.50? There're calling it a maintenance item??? Some thing I can change my self no? Not available at a parts store over the counter.. I am not paying $57.50 for 5 min.. worth of work if its an item that I can not purchase over the counter at auto zone or o'rileys then why is this being called a maintenance part? I got stuck with the brakes (ok) ware item.. Got stuck with cabin filter never knew existed behind glub box nice.. Rotors (ok) ware item.. Oil oil filter air filter all ok with that.. Washer fluid brake fluid power steering fluid coolant ok with all that because I see it and service it.. But a evap emissions canister? Or Filter?? Never knew a evap emissions filter could be replaced or even know where to find this item? Any suggestions? Pictures?? Clue as to where to buy it except for the KIA dealer tired of giving money to people that said I have a bumper to bumper warranty in the first place...
