My ESP light keeps coming on in my Mercedes C240 and I can't accelerate when it comes on. If I cut the car off and start it again it will go off and I can accelerate again. I have had the acccelerator sonsor pedal, battery, alternator, air mass meter, software up-dated and now bein told that I need a Throttle Actuator replaced for $1700 and if that does nto work it could be the control box for $1400. I have already spent $1700 and the ESP light is stll coming on and I can't accelerate. Do you have any recommendations?

Is it the dealer or a reputable Mercedes experienced workshop that is working on your car? There are places that can check the ECU to see if it good. (Perhaps call Fuel Injection Corporation in Livermore CA), throttle actuators can be re manufactured as well , having said that I am currently putting my third re-manufactured Throttle Actuator on a Jaguar at the moment (each one I have replaced has a separate but different problem so genuine Mercedes may be better way to go if not cost prohibitive). Is the wiring OK?
This is the Mercedes Dealership. I originally asked about electrical or computer related and was told no but now being told if the Trottol Actuator is not the problem then it is the Control Box but you should try the Throttle Actuator first which of course is more expensive $1700 and then try the Controll box $1400. I already spent $1700 with their guess work.
Whoever this person is, i wanted to thank asking and publishing this problem. I am having this same (identical) problem on my C240 (2004, year). Please let me know what options i have. I have already took several days of work_off becuase i wanted to fix. However, the dealership where i bought the car told me he needed more time to figure it out. I sensed they are guessing rather than they know the problem. I took the car out. they are doing guess work, i know it, by looking at thier faces, when i ask the question.
Thanks again, Dezi

Thanks for posting this. I am having the same problem with my 2005 C240. They first replaced the mass air flow system. Now they are recommending replacing the throttle actuator. Did this work for anyone? Could this be a recall issue for a defective part? Please help. I don't want to keep spending $$ on guess work. Responses would be greatly appreciated.
