Question: Error re my last question re eurovan.

 Rookie

I meant to say that the mechanic told me the tranmission differential had gone bad and so pieces of metal shavings were floating around in transmission fluid. Said it needs a new transmission (to the tune of $6,500!!!) Any ideas?

    Yes, but no guarantee. From your description, the transmission differential (tranfer case) has gone bad and needs replaced as soon as possible. You may be able to get away with just replacing the transmission differential and getting a full transmission flush and fill. This would be a lot less expensive and will work as long as the transmission is still intact. You can try to find a used or remanufactured transfer case and have a shop install it.
