erratic fuel gauge on 2005 Buick Rendezvous

Problems with erratic fuel gauge operation on your 2005 Buick Rendezvous are usually related to a faulty fuel level sensor in the fuel tank. It has always been my recommendation in the past to check codes in the powertrain control module to try and confirm a sensor fault. If indeed there is a sensor fault past experience would indicate the fuel tank would need to be removed and the fuel level sensor be replaced. I have heard lately however the Chevron is claiming that their fuel additive "techron" will help clean the deposits forming on the fuel level sensor and restore proper operation. This special formula is not yet available in the Chevron fuel but only in the "techron" additive available in the automotive section of your local store. You may wish to give this a try before spending the money to have the fuel level sensor replaced. If you try the "techron" solution, please report back to us the result.
The fuel level sensor is not the problem. Common problem with these instrument clusters. We repair these and many other instrument clusters at a very reasonable price. Visit http://www.mrwhizard.com for more information.
The fuel guage on my 2002 Rendezvous started moving erratically. I tried the Techron solution and it appears to have fixed the problem!!!
Erratic fuel gauge operation is usually caused by a defective fuel tank sender unit. Unfortunately it requires removing the gas tank to replace. 1.8 hours or so in labor.
