how do i erase the engine to get the check engine light off

    With a proper scan tool.

    A scan tool is the proper way to reset the computer. If the fault is fixed the computer will reset the computer once it has done two drive cycles and certain drive characteristics have been met. Disconnection the battery for ten minutes also works but you loose your radio (need a radio code to reset), and the computer has to relearn idle and driving strategies.

    similiar prob in canada...saskatoon....have a mechanic check timing belt, ours let go...now waiting for repair estimate with only 132000 kms
    check eng light would come on..then go out
