I just had a friend put a new fuel pump on my 2001 vw bug and the EPC light is on and not going off I'd never seen this light before whats causing it to stay on? The o2 sensor needs to be replaced and stalling on me more now with the new fuel pump..is this normal?

This is not normal at all. It sounds like you've now got a problem, or problems, in your emissions control system. Is your friend a professional technician? It sounds like you now need to take the car to a shop.

most of the time its the brake light switch, but if one of your brake light bulbs is out EPC will light
