The engine warning light comes on but took it to chevrolet dealership for diagnostic and showed everything was normal. Vehicle does not run hot. Warning light comes and goes. One time early in morning after starting it up..light came on saying engine hot. It hadn't been run all night...how could engine be hot (it wasn't.) Don't know a diagnostic code.

Are you talking about the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) or a temperature warning light? If the temp warning light came on for overheating and the engine was cold then there's something wrong.
If the MIL is on, then there are data and trouble codes stored in the computer and those could be accessed my a mechanic with a scanner.
If the dealer doesn't satisfy you, get it checked by a GM or Chevy specialist. They can tell you if it's warranteeable too if they're hip and give you seme direction as how to deal with it.

Happened to me too...check to make sure your gas cap is tight..mine wasn't and once I tightened it so that it clicks the warning went away a couple days later (probably est. 100mils).
