2008 Chevrolet Malibu Question: Engine throttle response/near stalling

AandPguy, 2.4L 4 Cylinder, Deltona, FL, October 09, 2009, 00:00

When I accelerate the car from a dead stop its really sluggish to pick up even if I flower it. Between first and second gear it almost wants to stall completeley it loses all power then theres a huge jump in power. There is no check engine light and dealer can not diagnose the problem. Its done this since new but recently gotten worse,my chevy dealer went under and now I'm out of warranty.I'm a airframe powerplant tech so please feel free to be technical.I have a hunch that it may be a ignition coil but I also think it may be a fuel issue but I'm no pro so please help. Thanks Ralph

The newer cars are equipped with an electronic throtle so your not gonna get a right away response when you floor it it just doesn't work like that, if is stalling it may have a pending code so i would still try to get it diagnose by chevy or a qualified repair shop that has the right equipment to check a 08 Malibu
