The engine may start and stall with the security light flashing. This is commonly caused by a failed passlock sensor which is part of the ignition lock cylinder. A secondary cause could be the ignition switch itself. Worn contacts inside the ignition switch can cause voltage drop issues which can affect the passlock system. Proper diagnoses should be performed before replacing any parts.Google+

My security light have been coming on for a while. I called the dealer they a price of almost $600.00 to fix the problem. The car will start after 10 mins, but the key must be turned to on postition, then after 10 mins the car will start. I have called and complained to gmac, they we're pretty much that's your problem. My car has been doing it for over a year. Some days the security light won't come on at all on others 3 to 4 times a day.If you notice the light on and go shut off the car crank it up again right after you shut it off it may reset the sercuity for you, but it doesn't work all the time.i can say theirs nothing worse than to be stuck somewhere and the car won't start for 10 minutes. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW, AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT.PLUS, IT LEAKS WATER INTO THE DOOR PANELS AND THE FLOOR BOARD. It's really nice when it rains and i can hear the water swich back and forward in the door.

I have the same problem as everyone else. I have to sit and wait each time for 10 minutes for it to reset in the hopes that it will start. Most of the time it does but every once in a while I have to put it in neutral to start it. Pain in my rear! Why hasn't GM recalled this if so many people are having problems?

Went to start my car today and I got nothing. I though it was just the battery like something got left on but when I jumped it it would start for about 2 seconds and then die but the battery was taking a charge. Need to know how to fix.

Thought it was my battery after car not starting but when I looked up why the security light was coming on it was said to be the passlock which makes the x at think it is being stolen and shuts off the fuel intake
