2000 Mercury Villager Question: engine starts an dies, seems to be lack of fuel what is wrong?



Visitor, 3.3L V6, Upton, KY, January 27, 2011, 20:11

Installed new fuel pump, ran for about 10 minutes and died. Will not start back up.

    Check for spark, then check for fuel, if you have both, check the compression. If your missing fuel check the fuel filter or pump relay/fuse's. It could be a number of things but the 3 main necessities that a gas combustion engine needs to run is fuel, spark and compression, without 1 of those 3 the car will not run.

    try replacing the distributor that is what mine did & i replaced fuel pump & throttle body position sensor and it still did the same thing would start so i replaced the distributor and now she runs GREAT & have had no problems out of it at all since then!!!
