Loss of power, decrease in fuel economy lag in acceleration can all be sings of a bad air flow meter/map/of maf . Back firing is caused due to a lean mixture, check for vacuum leaks, torn air induction boot ect..... All above symptoms could be caused by low fuel pressure/fuel delivery volume, or incorrect cam timing. Proper diagnostic tests should be carried out before condemning the MAF.
