Question: engine sluggish=the brakes quit

i was driving my 2001 ford tarus and got stalled in traffic-the engine started stalling and the brakes quit working-when i drove home about 14 miles the car seems to have the brakes one time and not the next--it just started doing this today-never did it before

    I am trying to put together any relationship between the stalling and brake issue. The only one that I can come up with is the vacuum supply line at the brake booster. If the line is damaged or disconnected, it could cause a concern with stalling and brakes.
