Engine runs very hot even after only 10-20 miles...center of engine ..ten inches straight down from windshield ...is the worst... Console also very hot. Normal things check out ok. This has been going on for a long time....years ....but seems to have gotten worse. Thanks.

how hot is very hot?? does it overheat?? i would start with a leak down test to verify the internal of the engine are good.

a flow test on the radiator would be next to make sure the coolant is traveling fast enough through the cores. a temp gun will help verify this by checking the temp difference.

and lastly, the water pump. it needs to be checked to make sure that it is working correctly.

Great list of possibilities. My husband's 94 mazda miata mx5 was overheating... first there was a crack in the radiator so we replaced that, but it still had trouble and we found the water pump needed to be replaced, and now he still has to check fluid levels every time he drives and frequently add water. It's getting to be an old car I suppose, so it takes a little more care especially since he drives a Lot each day.
