1992 Ford Explorer

Question: engine rpm's go up slightly then it dies and will usually restart

the problem is getting worse. Since the engine rpm's go up I'm thinking it is gas related. I have changed the air filter and want to replace the fuel filter but I can not figure out how to release the pressure so I can get the filter off. Maybe it's not a fuel problem. I am open to suggestions

    the proper term is IAC on the fords. idle control motor. I agree, it is a common failure.
