1997 Toyota Camry Q&A

1997 Toyota Camry Question: engine replacement estimate

I need an estimate of the cost to replace the engine with a used or rebuilt including labor. -
Answer 1
To remove and replace the engine if it has air conditioning and power steering, by the time all the parts are transferred from one engine to the other is about 13 hours labor. If you replace the toque converter seal and coolant hoses or other items when you are working on the engine other charges may occur. There are many companies out there selling re manufactured engines, some look like a good deal because they are cheap. When you call around repair shops to get a quote ask them if they have used this engine re builder before and what warentee comes with the engine? -
Answer 2
Hi,I just checked the site http://www.automotix.net/usedengines/1995-toyota-camry-inventor they have used engines ranging from $800 to $1000, and the repair cost would be same too, so all together the cost of replacing engine assembly plus labor charges would be approxmately $1600 to $2000. -
