Taking the engine out and replacing it (transferring parts from one engine to another) would take 12 to 14 hours. If its a second hand engine you may want to replace other components like the timing belt , timing belt components and water pump to prevent a duplication of labor later and inspect/replace clutch components if the car ha a manual transmission.
