How much can I expect to pay for a used engine?

Depends on the mileage, and if they offer a warranty. Prices range from $300-$400 all the way up to $1500-$2000. If you are keeping the car forever, put a new one in.

Always had regular maintenance done and any repairs needed, and with only 150,XXX miles on it and today after driving it for about 20min under normal conditions it caught fire in the engine compart...
Engine has no power and drags when trying to accelerate like it has no vacuum advance, diagnostic says it is missing on #2 and #5 cylinders. Changed coil pack with no change.
