1995 Mercury Tracer Question: engine problem
The pump should prime/ run for a second when the ignition key is cycled, it should receive power on cranking and when the engine is running. It does not receive power all the time for safety. If the vehicle was in an accident or developed a fuel leak you would not want the fuel pump running. - patrick mannion
Only a fuel pressure test will say for sure. Also - check the air intake - check the air tube for cracks and leaks. Check for a vacuum leak. Check for a PCV leak. - DaveJHM
