2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara Question: Engine noise on isport
Answer #1Superbob October 09, 2010, 15:01Master
If the engine sounds like a Diesel, I'd think there's something loose in the valve system or camshaft drive or a crankshaft pulley coming loose ot torque convertoer bolts loose.. Diesels are loud. Injectors make only a little noise.
Here's a directory link, maybe you need to find another shop.

I thought the dealers answer was a bit much...the complaint was made within the first 6-months of ownership...the vehicle has a 100,000 mile, 7-year power train warranty...I will have to take it to another dealer and get a second opinion, without voiding the current warranty by getting it fixed at a non-participating shop...thanks for your input!!!

I'm having the same problem with my 09 Grand Vitara 2.4l its realy loud at cold start and when I start driving, then gets better after a few minutes of driving but won't go away all together I'm thinking its valve related. But I'm wondering if you got yours fixed and what the problem tured out to be. Hope to here back from you Thanks
