It could be the gas - or something more serious. If the engine in your 2008 Chevrolet Equinox is running that poorly the service engine soon light should be on and fault codes will be set in the engine control module. Reading and diagnosing the fault stored fault codes will help determine the severity of your problem. It's not the gas, the engine misses. My best guess is that it's due to factory engineering because it's done it since day 1.
