Engine misfires can be caused by ignition system issues (most commonly), fuel system issues (less commonly) and internal engine issues.

Diagnostic testing should really be performed to find out what is occurring with performance components when running hot down the highway.

If the plugs and wires turn out OK, then there may be an issue with the engine, at which time a compression test may be in order.

    Good luck!
