2004 Ford Escape Q&A

2004 Ford Escape Question: Engine misfire

I keep getting the code for engine misfire for the first 10000 revolutions along with cylinger 4 misfire. I have changed the coils around and still getting the same codes. What is going on? I feel that this may effect the 3 cats on this Escape. -
Answer 1
Ignition coil failure would be my first guess for a misfire on the Escape but you have moved that coil to another cylinder, try moving the spark plug to that other cylinder as well and see if the misfire follows to the cylinder you have moved the coil and plug to. After that check for a vacuum leak at the manifold, perhaps check compression and see if it is even in all cylinders and then check for pulse at the injector of the cylinder flagged for a misfire. -
