noise is steady and gets louder when you accelaerate

  you should have a shop check this noise as it could just be a worn belt tensioner or pulley and you can locate a shop here www.repairpal.com/directory

  That happened to my car and it was the water pump.

• engine lifter
  Lifters making noise. Added lubricant but the rattle came back. What's wrong?

  If my lifters are bad, how long can I continue to drive without actually damaging engine? The sound is not very loud, yet.

• i have a 93 lumina,the problem started out just hard starting, it would run fine
  but then started dying when stopping,, i changed spark plugs and that made it worse
