Question: engine light on, difficult to put in gas

My engine light went on about 4 days ago and since then I have twice tried to put gas in the tank. The nozzle keeps stopping (never did this before) and I have to almost drip the gas in to keep it from shutting off. Is this just coincidence of is the engine light telling me that something is wrong in the gas tank?

    sounds like the vent solenoid is stuck closed in the evap system. have a shop check it and verify.
