Question: Engine Light is ON & Reverse does not Work
Question
I have BMW 2000 323i. It is showing Engine Light on dash board. All of sudden, When I start car, car does not go into reverse. After putting into drive, Sometime It makes vey squeaky noise. Anyone have suggestions?

RookieYour transmission is gone for reverse. Common problem although BMW will act as if you are the first one. It is a defect talked about on the net. Solution is to have transmission rebuilt, BMW wants $4,500 for a rebuilt transmission, not installed. Shop wants $2,500 to do the job. I have driven 40,000 miles with no reverse as a repair will not cure defect.
