my engine is leaking quite a bit of oil, I would say 2 qrts. to a half a tank of gas. the leakage seems to be coming from the manifold and has just begun to overheat. Does this sound like the head gasket, and is it very expensive to replace?

MasterYou really need to have the car properly inspected for the leak. it could be something serious like a head gasket, it happens, but it may be something like just the valve cover gasket and a leaking hose clamp.

MasterTo pin point where oil is leaking from the engine may need to steam clean the engine first. Starting with a clean engine and then running the engine it may be easier to identify specific leaks. If the oil leak can not be identified, florescent dye may need to be added to the oil and the engine run for a while. After running the engine the dye used has florescence in the dye is visable under UV light and it helps pin points the source of the leak.
