2004 Volkswagen Jetta Question: Engine Hesitates on Startup

In the morning, I have been issues with my car starting up. When I turn the key over, it hesitates a couple of seconds. The console lights sort of freeze and then it finally starts up. If I turn the car off and try it again, the hesitation decreases. What could be causing this issue?

I would check all the basics of your starting -charging system. A weak battery could cause this. I have seen it happen time and time again. A Battery should be replaced after 4-5 years. I always replace mine every 48 months to prevent and weird symptoms like you are having or worse, being stranded on a dark rainy night. Good Luck!

The battery was definitely depleted. I replaced the battery and it now starts up without a problem.
