1994 Honda Civic Question: ENGINE HEAD DAMAGE

I AM TOLD THE ENGINE HEAD IS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF ENGINE OVER HEATING. CAN YOU GIVE AN ESTIMATE ON TIME MATERIAL AND LABOR INVOLVED TO FIX THE DAMAGE.

    the labor is 8 hours plus oil change and coolant flush.
    the gasket set with head bolts is around 170.
    the only varaible is the machine shop. if it just needs to be planed and is not cracked, then it is around 70. if it is cracked and needs to be replaced, you are looking at 500 for a bare head and about 200 for the machine shop.
    the first step you need to do is get the head off and see what the machine shop says.

    Thank you for your quick response.

    Is there a way to find out short of removing the head weather or not it's cracked of not.?

    Will need head removed and to machine shop for them to check for cracked head, be prepared for worse case scenario, call machine shop and they can give worse case estimate before looking at it.
