my engine fan will start to run shortly after starting the engine, long before it has warmed up.

    First start by checking your engine coolant level when the engine is cold. This is normal if you have your HVAC (Heater.AC) Controls in the a/c or defrost positions. Another possibillity is a defective coolant temp sensor or a defective fan control relay.
