engine cooling on 1998 Dodge Intrepid

Is it normal for the coolant system to run high? The temp gauge is half way, then the fan kicks on, cools the engine off a little bit. The coolant level is good.

It sounds like it is running in the half way position, which should be OK. If you suspect a problem, then it's worth having the cooling system checked out, one of the worst things (very expensive) you can do is overheat your engine!
