Question: engine coolant temperature gauge

i just observed my 2006 Toyota corolla coolant temperature gauge is above the middle line and remains constant there. i will like to know if is normal and what the temperature gauge should read when driving and solution(s) to the problem.my email is oshevireakpoguma@yahoo.com. Thanks

    If the gauge remains in the same range it indicates the engine is most likely operating at the correct temperature but the gauge and/or sender may be slightly out of calibration. The thermostat may also be running a little high as well. You can have it checked relatively easily at a local service center that uses Raytek portable temperature sensor gun. Proper engine temperature should be between 185 – 195 degrees Fahrenheit. Hope this helps. John Bryant - owner - Sonrise automotive
