Can I buy Engine Coolant from a local auto parts or do I have to go to the dealer?

  You can potentially get the right spec you need from an auto parts store, but it's EXTREMELY important that you use the recommended grade/type/etc. BMWs are high performance and very sensitive. Use your VIN to be sure.
