2500 Dodge Spinter, 2006, 5 cylinder diesel Engine Control Unit Indicator Lamp comes on and sometimes overnight it says off and after it sits for awhile it come on again. According to the, owners manual, it suggests that the fuel tank may have been run empty. Also, it says that the engines power output may be reduced. I haven't had the engines power reduced. Also, it suggests to refuel and bleed the fuel system. Any suggestions.

Engine Control Unit Indicator Lamp on and off many times with many codes mass, speed, brakes, glow plugs, many others than stuck in 2nd gear. Even after powering off to set est. of dealer $1400.00 (nice link) http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w163-m-class/1465231-mercedes-repair-maintainance-transmission-etc-tips.html check control modlel to see if transmission fluid is in the plug to module issue with the 722.6 involves transmission fluid wicking up the harness into the control module and causing the module to malfunction. Usually, the harness from the transmission to the ETC module is replaced and the module is replaced provided the leak is repaired. In some cases this may be more than is actually needed but it usually fixes the concern. Transmission fluid does not actually damage the module and can be flushed away with board cleaning solvent or electrical contact cleaner as a first attempt. Always repair the leak before replacing a module.
